Have you ever asked yourself, “Am I happy? Am I doing what I really want?” Have you ever thought what you would think of your life in 10 or 20 years? When you get old?
There was a hospital study done on 100 elderly people facing death. They were asked to reflect about their life’s biggest regret. Nearly all of them said they regretted not the things that they did but the things they didn’t do. The risks they never took, the dreams they didn’t pursue.
Why do you exist? To simply work, care for your family, wait for the weekend, or pay rent? When you look back at all those years will you think that you’ve had a good and happy life? That you have made your dreams come true? You know, there’s a thief in your mind who is after your dreams. His name is Doubt. He is worse than a thief – he is a killer, for he has killed more dreams than failure ever did. He wears many disguises and like a virus will leave you blinded, divided and turn you into a ‘kinda’. You know what kinda is… There is a lot of kinda people…You kinda want a career change, you kinda want to get straight, you kinda want to get in shape. If you kinda want smth. then you will kinda get the results you want.
We have been given a gift that we call life. So don’t just kinda live it. Make the most out of it! You cannot go back and make a brand new beginning. But you can start now and make a brand new ending. You are not defined by your past, instead you are born anew in each moment.
Like any person, I have been often thinking what my regrets will be when I get old. What would I remember as the greatest moments of my life? What are my kids going to think of me tomorrow? Have I done everything what I really aspired to?
Well, I am sure I am living my dream now, but it took me many years and thousands of mistakes to make it true. I wish I had someone then who could have made this route shorter and straighter. Someone professional who could have helped me to dig out my real aspirations from my deep subconscious, who could have opened my eyes to what life really means to me, who could have helped me deal with my doubts, my fears of failure and rejection, who could have shared my delight in my successes.
Alas, coaching was not known 30 years ago! But now it is. Why not use it to make your life a more fulfilled one? To make the best decision, to become a better professional in what you doing or to get the job of your dreams instead of the one that is not rewarding? You can reach your targets without coaching of course, but are you sure that these are the right targets for you? And that you will find the best way to reach them? By nature, human beings are resilient problem solvers. Because of this they are able to make choices based on the knowledge they have in a given situation. It is important to remember that sometimes there are better choices, but we simply don’t see them. Coaching will open your eyes to these choices.
